Silly Boat Regatta celebrates its 25th Anniversary!

Presenting Sponsor Coast Capital Savings invites you to the 25th Annual Silly Boat Regatta – a fun, free, family event in support of a special cause, Our Children!

Saturday’s Festivities: Join the Quality Foods team the “S.S. Minnow” for a Gilligan’s Island themed afternoon featuring a look-a-like contest (4 PM). Do you see yourself as “the Professor” or “Ginger”? Come on down and join the fun! Winners of the “look-a-like” contest win a “three hour tour” on the actual S.S. Minnow on Sunday July 19, 2009. Browse the Silly Boat Regatta historical displays and enjoy performances from Raincoast Music (2 PM) and award winning songwriter, singer, and actor Rick Scott (3 PM).

Sunday Festivities: Boat building begins at 8:00 AM with races from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. Free family activities begin at 10 AM featuring Coast Capital Savings “Wally’s World”, McDonald’s Restaurants “Sports Zone”, and Woodgrove Centre’s “Children’s Mini Regatta”.

The Nanaimo Child Development Centre welcomes you to this fun event for a very special cause – our children – 100% of all funds raised go to support children with developmental needs and their families in our community (Ladysmith to Lantzville). The Nanaimo Child Development Centre provided services to over 1700 children and their families last year.

Looks like lots of fun with plenty of laughs.  So come down to the park and join the quests and staff of the Painted Turtle Guesthouse as they take the Silly Boat Festival.
